Japanese company Dreamtonics has officially unveiled its new AI-based real-time voice modification plugin, Vocoflex, which lets you seamlessly mix, swap, or transform any voice into a completely different one.
Vocoflex is an application for PC and Mac, designed to create and transform vocal parts in real time using artificial intelligence solutions. To process any vocal recording that is part of our project opened in the DAW program using this plug-in, we need to specify one or more so-called target voices (TARGET VOICE). These can be, for example, audio files (WAV, FLAC, OGG) containing voice samples lasting from 10 to 20 seconds, which we import into the application. After they are analyzed by the plug-in, we receive its graphical representation in the form of interconnected points, which we can manipulate from the plug-in's graphical interface. In addition to our own samples, we can use the library built into the application, which includes 40 presets. The second option for adding a target voice is to use the on-board generator to create it from scratch.
Mixing, interpenetration of voices and transformation of one into another is done by moving the cursor on the virtual panel. The more target voices we upload to Vocoflex, the greater the possibilities of modification we will have - especially if we use voices of different timbre and character, male or female. What's more, we can control the cursor not only with a mouse or touchpad on a laptop, but also using an external MIDI controller. This allows the creation of "landmarks", i.e. specific cursor positions, which can be assigned to physical controllers and called up. Using the Vocoflex plug-in in a DAW program, we can also use automation to change the cursor position. The application also offers several other functions and tools, including the ability to adjust the pitch to match the range of the target voice to the source one. We can also choose the latency for the real-time mode.
It is worth noting that Dreamtonics, understanding the potential risks and ethical implications of using the application for purposes other than its intended purpose, has implemented built-in security measures in Vocoflex in the form of a KYC verification procedure ("know your customer"). What's more, audio materials created using this plugin will have an inaudible "watermark" embedded in them, allowing the creator of a given voice or audio sample to be identified.
Vocoflex can be used as a VST3/AAX/AU plug-in or as a standalone application in Windows or macOS. The program is offered both as a standalone product and as part of packages that also include the Synthesizer V Studio Pro application.
